CHOOSING THE BRAND
why sour patch kids?
I chose Sour Patch Kids as the brand I would be embodying for this project because of their bold brand identity, bright colors, and unique marketing campaign strategy.
As an added bonus, the summer
Sour Patch Kids flavors were just too
yummy to pass up.
so, what's the plan?
2
GATHERING SUPPLIES
I went to my local grocery store and purchased my chosen Sour Patch Kids product and the fresh fruits correlating to the flavors in the package.
Then I gathered some supporting props, like a lemonade pitcher, a glass, and an alphabetical ice tray.
why did you choose not to use mockups?
In order to stand out from the other designers completing this project, I wanted to demonstrate my commitment to achieving unique, high quality results by my own means. I approached this task as an opportunity to strengthen my photography skills in a new and exciting commercial context.

SOUR PATCH SLIDES
Project Type
Social Media Slides
I was tasked with designing a three-part social media advertisement from a list of popular food brands. Throughout this project, I challenged myself to exclude the use of mockups and instead explore food photography and hand-carved typography.
SETTING THE STAGE
3
Using white poster board, a lamp, and a table top, I created a make-shift
light box in my bedroom to
begin shooting.

I wanted to add emphasis to Sour Patch Kids' tagline (Sour, Sweet, Gone) in a way that would grab the attention of consumers scrolling online...
CUSTOM TYPOGRAPHY
4
...so I cut up some custom
sweet and sour type!
BUT WHO WANTS WARM LEMONADE?

Using a silicone alphabet mold, I made some ice cubes to finish the tagline!
